Based in Wirral and travelling to schools & organisations around the North West, we provide group Courses in Self Defence,
group Courses in the Martial Art of Taekwon-do, as well as Personal Martial Arts Training.
People are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of personal safety, in the street or in the workplace.
A well structured, basic self defence programme, will help you begin to develop the skills and confidence to deal with threatening
situations.
Credentials
StartSafe is run by Helen Bennett, a 4th Dan Black Belt and ITF qualified International Instructor in the Martial Art of TaeKwon-Do.
She has also studied other forms of self defence and has been practising Taekwon-do continuously
since 1986. She is an Instructor for the United Kingdom Taekwon-Do Association (UKTA)
She has been instructing Martial Arts to adults, and children since 1991 and is also a qualified secondary school teacher. She has
taken many students through to Black Belt, but is proud to tell you:
"I've never graded anyone to black belt. All my black belt students have passed external grading exams
conducted by 9th Dan Grandmaster, Rhee Ki Ha, pioneering First Grandmaster and chair of the ITF promotions committee".
As a UKTA Instructor she is also registered with the BTC (British Taekwon-do Council) who are the
only National Governing Body for Taekwon-Do in the UK, and are recognised by Sport England as such.
In 2010 Mrs Bennett was awarded 'UK Instructor of the Year' by the UK Taekwon-Do Association.
All instructors working under Mrs Bennett are also CRB cleared, ITF qualified and BTC registered, with a
minimum grade of 2nd Dan Black Belt.
